Secret Aaaaaagent Girl ...

.... "they're givin you a number, and takin away your name!"

Ok well I am not saying we should take away their name completely but .... I will be giving everyone a number! I know we have all been told to number those RSVP reply cards just in case people forget to put their names on them when they send them back ... but who wants to doodle all over those invites once the arrive all pretty and clean and perfecto .... especially when you have chicken scratch handwriting like me!

Well With This Ring, gave me the solution! Invisible ink pens! You can write the numbers on the cards and no one else will be able to see them, but each one is equipped with a blue light to reveal the numbers to you when your old aunt Greta sends you back a reply card with a doodle of a goose on it, instead of her name or how many people she is coming with. Useful no?

Plus it makes you feel like a super cool, secret agent! Useful and fun!

Put em up!

Getting fingerprinted ... its not usually associated with pleasant occasions in life .... mostly its associated with the words "book 'em dano!" .... or maybe that's just in my head where we are all living in film noir and I am street wise lady cop walkin the beat with my hunky partner? Wow, that was one seriously long digression! Anyways .... fingerprinting just got some big boosts in the wedding world though. First there was this fingerprint tree ... which clearly makes me swoon.

And now there are these!

Hot, hot, hot, with a side of heat. How come there are so many fantastic cufflinks out there in the world?? It's just criminal! Oh, come on! I couldn't resist.

Found on Victoria with Roses and sold at Chris Parry's etsy store..... and they do other fingerprint jewelry too!

A touching tribute ...

I think I am going to steal this idea from Mrs. Hot Cocoa ....

I love how the lockets are small and delicate and sentimental without being overly sad and obvious. I am thinking of attaching them to our dads' boutonnieres (for parents that they have lost) and the bouquets of our moms (each of their dads has passed) and grandma's (for their husbands and/or parents). I think it is such a lovely way to honor the loved ones we have lost.

Bottom line, I dig it. And I'm not the only one! The Alternative Bride posted about this too!

I proposed!

Yeh, yeh I know we were already engaged before ... but I proposed to the Big Guy this weekend!

Let me back up this train for ya and explain. Approximately one year ago this week, the Big Guy asked me to marry him and gave me a beautiful ring (if I do say so myself) ...

Montserrat, Spain where we got engaged ... the first time.
And I wanted to give him something in return, a gift ... something of value, that he could keep forever, and that would signify the promise we made to each other.

But what?? A lot of my girls got their boys fancy watches but the Big Guy said he didn't want one (and let's get real here, I couldn't really afford the kind of watch you wear foreva eva) so I suggested an engagement ring. Yeh its true, dudes don't really get to do the engagement ring thing but I say, 'why not!?!' And the Big Guy agreed with me, he loved the idea of a ring he could wear until we get married, especially since our wedding bands will be extremely simple (according to Jewish tradition) so he liked that his engagement ring could be embellished in some way.

Cut to the next few months of me frantically trying to find something that he would: love, wear, and that would mean something to him .... and then cut to me giving up in utter frustration. Until, the blog world came to my rescue! Meg from A Practical Wedding posted about on of her sponsors Turtle Love Committee. And I fell in love ... again .. with an inanimate object. I immediately ordered the ring with the tree etched into it ... and then like a sly fox I waited ... until the perfect day, the (almost) anniversary of our engagement, in front of some of our closest friends, in a beautiful place .... and I popped the question! With this ...

Ladies, let me tell you, it was far more nerve wracking than anticipated ... but the shock and joy on his face where well worth it! You wanna see it on the Big Guy himself?? Check it ...

Do you love? I love!! He loves. It feels like we are engaged all over again ... and I can't stop smiling.

Oh and on a sidenote ... Turtle Love Committee is amazing. The ring is gorgeous, it arrived fast and in a beautiful package, with a lovely card thanking me for my business. This is in no way a sponsored post, I just want you guys to know ... they rock. Period.

A teaser ....

Trees

I THINK that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

- Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918

We are back from the Hamptons a little tan-er, a little more relaxed, and very very happy! I will reveal the big surprise from over the weekend .... shortly!  .... and there will be pics! In the meantime enjoy the poem.
