... this time its menus! I have to tell you, I am not always a fan of stationary ... there is just so much of it going on in terms of the weds and I just really couldn't care less about it .. I know blasphemy! But its true ... I just don't really care about paper or calligraphy or letterpress or any of that stuff. But I think this menu card idea is quite ... charming! It might even make me warm up to paper goods as a whole. Check it ...

My thought is this ... you put each guests name on the top of the card and then they scratch it off to see their table number! Fabulous, no? Oh HALE YES.

As far as things that matter to me, boutonnieres rank really really really low on that list, like just below professional baseball and a wedding videographer (although this one is up for debate too) ... but then I stumbled across these handsome little devils and you know your girl can't resist a personal-touch-adding DIY project. The Big Guy and I have decided to honor a throwback Jewish tradition and not see each other for the full week before our wedding (both of our families and all of our friends think that we are crazy but I think its kind of romantic... anticipation of a good thing and all that). So I will have lots of time that week to sit at home and do DIY projects ... oh yeh and do all of the other "little" projects I have dreamt up for myself and work and hang out with my friends/family ... on second thought lets ponder this new project a little further....

A little wedding magic

I like the idea of the guests throwing something at the bride and groom as the walk down the aisle (although after re-reading that sentence, I am having strange images of guests throwing rotten fruit if they are displeased with the ceremony). There are so many options for guests to throw ... flower petals, biodegradable confetti, feathers, rice (although I hear that rice has bad effects on birdies ... something about them exploding after eating it) .... these all seem like very cute options to me (minus the bird explosions of course) but then I see these from Classic Bride....

I am loving up the image of the guests waving pretty white flags as we pass through. Yet another DIY project to add to my list!

Simple, modern, beautiful... check, check, check! ... And potentially doable for me and Yevs regardless of our lack of floral abilities, no? I think yes!

Another escort card idea...

Apples... not just yummy... pretty too! And pretty cheap to buy in bulk (find local Costco! Follow by sigh of relief) or go apple picking with your future hubs and/or your bridal party (if they love you a lot a lot) to get your supply. Then just add a little bit of homegrown craftiness to get this...

Another great thing about these is that an apple is said to be a representation of the Jewish community. Our culture, religion, and history is something that has brought me and the Big Guy even closer, it is something we frequently discuss and find joy in discovering (for me) and re-discovering (for him) together. I think it would be great if we could include more cultural Jewish aspects to our wedding besides the religious aspects that we will be highlighting during the ceremony.

And, it is still sort of a shout-out to where the Big Guy is from (Washington state, apples ... get it?) and NY is the Big Apple! Ok, ok I might be reaching the cheesiness threshold.

Favors that are hard and sweet... what more could a girl ask for?

I was walking through a store today when I saw that they were selling rock candy on small wooden sticks (I believe the fancy, and by fancy I mean appropriate, name for these is "demitasse rock candy"). It occurred to me that this could be a great wedding favor.

They come in every color, they are pretty reasonably priced, they are fun to serve with dessert (your guests can stir their coffee or tea with them to sweeten the drinks). You can buy them in bulk and wrap them up or tie a ribbon around the wooden stem or add a little note for your guests...
