Have I mentioned that I am a giant geek? No really! HUGE. And, you wanna know the only person who out-geeks me? Well of course, its the Big Guy! He belongs to the rare and majestic species of "Hot Nerd". So, when I found these two articles about endearing and annoying habits of a geeky spouse, I just had to share! The Big Guy definitely does not exhibit all of these traits but below are some choice ones that were just too apt to pass up ...
Under Annoying Habits of a Geek Spouse:
1. Punning - OMG! The Big Guy is a notorious punner! In fact, we have started using the term "punny" instead of "funny" ... oh crap we have out-punned ourselves.
2. Using "frak," or Klingon, or both, instead of regular swear words - the Big Guy is totally innocent in this category .. unfortunately, yours trully is not ... I use frak every frakkin chance I frakkin get.
5. Wearing obscurely geeky T-shirts to "normal" places -
5. Wearing obscurely geeky T-shirts to "normal" places -
8. Looking up information while a discussion/argument is still in progress - Who gave that man a blackberry!?!?!?
Under Endearing Habits of a Geeky Spouse:
9. Being romantic in unusual ways - See this post. Sigh.
4. Owning lots of really good, though not mainstream, books - Definitely true. The biggest, most difficult part of our move to our new place was trying to figure out where to put all of our books.
3. Being really good at finding things that go missing - I had no clue this was a geek thing! I though the Big Guy had some sort of weird super power! Hmmm, it all makes sense now!
And these deserve an honorable mention for being very cute and true about my man too: 8. Finding the best deals in grocery stores, 7. Watching, quoting and generally loving the Muppets, and 1. Cooking.
These articles are very cute .. the only thing is .. I kind of find the annoying stuff endearing too! I guess, I am just really frakkin in love with my geeky Guy. What do you guys find endearing/annoying about nerdy loved ones?

Frankly, I'm shocked that I came out ahead in this post. With only 3 of the four posted annoying habits counting against me, I seem to be exactly 3 honorable mentions endearing as far as nerditude goes.
I will point out to your readers, however, that the t-shirt, proudly displaying both the puniness of #1 and the geekiness that only Maxwell's field equations can embody, is the only shirt to survive the near-Stalinist purge of my wardrobe. Though I am happy that you have recently thawed to a tepid distrust of my plaid khaki shorts and have stopped placing them in precarious positions beneath carafes of red wine and leftover paint primer. :)
Really Big Guy, comparing a Russian Jew to a Stalinist? Unseemly! I assure you those plaid shorts will be sleepin with the fishes tonight mister!
Love you like you love math .. and maybe even more.
Love the geeks. My mister writes angry letters to the government (that he posts on the fridge like they are A+ exams or something) and has a special voice he uses to talk like the kittens. Best.
Hm ... frac is overrated. I'm just glad you don't speak klingon. (I had a friend who in grade 8 learned to speak some klingon. Yes, they have books on how to speak it.)
But still a cute post. :)
personally, I'm a fan of using the Chinese slang/curses from Firefly. I probably don't pronounce them right, but they sure do feel mean and gruff.
Other geeky things :
-not actually being able to spend time with him when visiting family because they want him to reformat their computers.
-geocaching (needs special hi-tech tools, and lets him play outside!)
-secret codes used in sweet notes (and grocery lists)
-best date nights ever : classic Star Trek and Zombie Zin (an amazingly weird wine)
Callie! I heart firefly big time! I only wish I knew the curses from that show ... I do use "shiny" though :)
I use frak all the time too!
Geeks are awesome!
sweetie, i think you're a nerd, not a geek...
omg! my old dude is a bit of a closeted sci fi nerd. while he'd never call himself a sci fi nerd, i once witnessed a 40 min convo with him and his best friends about robots. AND, he once described his love for me with a star trek reference. he said loving you is "like being inside the nexus". i had to google it!. apparently, it's a self-made Utopia and described as "like being wrapped inside joy", a totally euphoric experience. awwwwwwww!
Hi Big Guy! Nice to frakkin' meet ya!
BSG!!!!
I have to admit, the BF and I use Wikipedia as tie-breaker on arguments facts/trivia. We need help.
Yay for geeky boys. I love it when he gets with his boys and they get their geek on!
This seems like a post I need to write about my boy!
